About Seamshift Arena
Seamshift Arena is an independent English browser game for seeing edge identification while moving. A player can read the mathematical rule, start a complete 75-second challenge, and compare a torus with a Möbius strip using the same controls and objectives. It works without a download, registration, or payment and is designed to remain playable at a 390 CSS-pixel viewport.
Why a flat rectangle can show a torus
A torus can be represented as a quotient of a rectangle: left and right edges identify point-for-point, and top and bottom do the same. The visible rectangle is a coordinate chart rather than a wall. When a token leaves one edge, the code maps it to the equivalent coordinate on the paired edge while preserving orientation. Dashed ghosts preview that equivalent position before the crossing.
The Möbius comparison
Möbius mode identifies only the red left and right edges, reversing their height parameter. Crossing at height y returns at 1 − y, and vertical direction reverses. The cyan top and bottom are actual boundaries in that mode, so the token reflects. This narrow comparison avoids implying that every twisted surface has the same rule.
Original clean-room direction
The project uses a scientific field-notebook setting, botanical collectibles, plant hazards, a round explorer token, original code, and original writing. It does not copy the title, source code, art, level design, spacecraft, rocks, weapons, starfield, or trade dress of an existing arcade game. The generated background and botanical sprite sheet were commissioned for this implementation.
A reversible demand test
Demand is unproven. Similarweb served as a candidate radar, while low-volume Trends evidence was insufficient and related topology games and explanations already exist. This free MVP tests whether the combination of a precise explanation, visible seam ghosts, touch play, and two surfaces completes a useful search task. An HTTP response or deployment would not prove that hypothesis.
